Breast carcinoma

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Pain in right axilla when playing golf. Palpable nodes right axilla. No prior breast imaging.

Patient Data

Age: 42
Gender: Female
mammography

Poorly circumscribed lesion supero-central in the right breast with no associated calcifications. Dense lymph node in the axilla.

Left breast imaging (not shown) is unremarkable

ultrasound

There is a lobulated hypoechoic lesion with poorly defined margins at the 12 o'clock position in the right breast. The axillary nodes are pathologically enlarged and the cortices are abnormally thickened. 

Case Discussion

Mammographic and ultrasoud findings highly suggestive of malignancy, i.e. BI-RADS V. Subsequent pathology proves malignancy in the breast lesion and axillary nodes.
