Breast hamartoma

Presentation

Patient shows up because of palpable painless lump in the right breast. No family history of breast cancer.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
Mammography

Both breasts show scattered areas of fibroglandular tissue.

In the lower inner quadrant of the right breast there is an oval shaped, well circumscribed nodule (37mm) with areas of fatty and fibrous tissue density, in concordance with palpable lesion. 

Case Discussion

This typical appearance on mammography is called breast within a breast sign, and it is pathognomonic of breast hamartomas.
