Case contributed by Mohammad Taghi Niknejad
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Left breast painful palpable mass on physical exam. No familial history of breast cancer.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female
mammography

The left breast is heterogeneously dense, which may obscure small masses. (breast composition type C)

A large oval-shaped mass with a partially obscured and slightly lobulated margin is noted in the medial central part of the left breast.

ultrasound

A targeted ultrasound evaluation of the large left breast mass shows a thick-walled cystic lesion without a solid component which is probably benign. (BI-RADS 3)

Case Discussion

Regarding the size of the cystic lesion and associated pain, ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration was performed for the patient as a palliative treatment. Follow-up ultrasonography and annual screening mammography were also recommended
