Presentation

The right breast palpable mass on physical exam.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female
mammography

A hyperdense mass with irregular and spiculated margins and internal foci of calcification is noted in the lower outer quadrant of the right breast, which is highly suspicious. (BI-RADS 5)

In addition, a few focal areas with fine pleomorphic calcification foci are scattered in the right breast, consistent with satellite lesions.

Case Discussion

An ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy was performed for the right breast mass, and histopathology evaluation confirmed invasive ductal carcinoma.

A breast mass with an irregular and spiculated margin and internal fine calcification foci is highly suggestive of malignancy, and tissue exam is needed.
