Mammogram with Eklund technique for breast implants.

Mammogram shows scattered breast tissue in the breasts. RMLO view with Eklund technique demonstrates two small, round, circumscribed, low-density lesions with rim calcifications (or eggshell calcifications) in the upper outer quadrant of the right breast.

Case Discussion

CC and MLO views were obtained using Eklund technique, and regular MLO views including the whole implants.

Since this technique allows better compression of the breast and posterior displacement of the implant, a greater amount of breast tissue could be visualized, and thus RMLO clearly demonstrates the two small lesions, while they remain somewhat obscured in the regular MLO views that include the whole implant.

Findings are consistent with oil cysts.
