Patient Data

Age: 79
Gender: Male

CT Chest

ct

CT scout: similarly to an x-ray, the scout shows ring shadows and interstitial markings predominantly involving the left lung lower zones.

CT confirms diffuse bronchial wall thickening, peripheral mucoid impaction and cystic bronchiectasis severely distorting the left lower lobe. Centrilobular nodules in a tree in bud distribution within the lower lobes are likely related to acute bronchial infection/aspiration.

Case Discussion

Bronchiectasis refers to abnormal dilatation of the bronchial tree and is seen in a variety of clinical settings, such lung infections.
