Broncho-oesophageal fistula

Presentation

Known case of pulmonary tuberculosis with cavitory lesions in the medial basal segments of the right lower lobe. Patient presented with cough after the ingestion of food since 3 months. Also complaints of hemoptysis.

Patient Data

Age: 35
Gender: Male
Barium

On barium swallow outlining of a fistulous tract noted, with communication between lower third of the oesophagus and the right lower lobe bronchus with pooling of the contrast in the medial basal segments of the right lower lobe.

CT

Immediately post barium swallow CT thorax was done which confirmed the presence of contrast with in the cavitatory lesions noted in the medial basal segments of the right lower lobe.
