Bronchogenic carcinoma with L1 vertebra metastasis

Case contributed by Natalie Yang
Diagnosis almost certain

Chest x-ray demonstrates ill-definition and bulkiness of the left hilum with what appears to be mass projecting lateral to the aortic arch.

CT confirms the presence of a mass which narrows the upper lobe bronchus and extends medially below the arch of the aorta. It appears to be continuous with a number of enlarged nodes which are matted together.

Case Discussion

Features are consistent with a bronchogenic carcinoma. Incidental note is made of an L1 metastasis.
