Bronchogenic cyst: mediastinal

Presentation

Patient presented for medical fitness chest assessment prior to commencement of a new job. Soon after he was involved in a RTA, from which he sustained a spinal injury

Patient Data

Age: 25
Gender: Male
X-ray

Large thoracic mass on the post operative lateral spine - the known bronchogenic cyst.

X-ray

Review of the initial chest radiograph was taken for medical fitness purposes demonstrating a large right hilar mass. 

CT

Cystic lesion in the right hilar region.

Case Discussion

Always review the whole film, whatever the indication. Often the most interesting or revealing pathology is elsewhere!
