Brown tumour - involving skull

Skull mass in a patient with end stage renal disease and secondary hyperparathyroidism.

Patient Data

Age: 20
Gender: Male

The left parietal bone has a focal expansion with central lucency and partial mineralisation. There is no periosteal reaction or convincing soft tissue component.  Numerous other small lucencies are scattered throughout the skull. 

Case Discussion

The findings in a patient with  end stage renal disease and secondary hyperparathyroidism are compatible with brown tumour.
