Buckle fracture distal radius

Case contributed by Dr Hani Salam
X-ray

Buckle fracture of the distal radius. Minor dorsal angulation.

Case Discussion

Buckle fractures are the commonest type of distal radial fracture in children. They are stable injuries. There may be angulation which is usually dorsal. If angulation is minimal, symptomatic treatment in a removable splint is all that is required.

Look for associated distal ulnar or ulnar styloid injuries.
