Patient Data

Age: 15 months
Gender: Male
x-ray

Buckle fracture of the distal tibia. No fibular injury.

Case Discussion

The classical injury in this age group is a toddler fracture which is a spiral fracture of the distal tibia. This is a buckle injury in the same location caused by an axial (rather than rotational) load.

As with any injury in this age group, it is important to be certain that the history matches the fracture type (which it does). No additional investigation is required.
