Bulbar urethral stricture and venous intravasation

Patient presents with urinary hesitancy, dysuria, post void dribbling, and nocturia.

Patient Data

Age: 55
Gender: Male

Retrograde urethrography demonstrating a short bulbar urethral stricture with venous intravasation of some of the contrast media.

Contrast media has also begun to fill the bladder. 

Case Discussion

Venous intravasation is related to the degree of pressure applied during contrast administration.

Intravasation of contrast media may lead to an allergic reaction in susceptible individuals. it should be mentioned. Consider stopping the procedure when encountering intravasation.
