Presentation

Recent closure of ileostomy. Now distension and abdominal pain. Past history ultra low anterior resection of rectum.

Patient Data

Age: 85
Gender: Female

Gross gaseous distension of the cecum due to distal obstruction at the anal anastomosis. The cecal mucosa is thickened, ragged and contains gas bubbles consistent with at least venous ischemia. No gas within draining veins.
