Presentation

Secondary infertility. History of cesarean section.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female
Fluoroscopy

The uterus is normal in shape without evidence of congenital abnormalities. The endometrial cavity is well-filled with contrast material with no filling defects.

A focal contrast media out-pouching is evident in the left aspect of the lower part of the endometrial cavity inferring a cesarean section scar diverticulum.

Both fallopian tubes are visualized and normal spillage of contrast is noted at both fimbrial ends.

Case Discussion

Cesarean section scar diverticulum appears as a U or V shaped defect or a focal outpouching at the site of a prior cesarean section with >2 mm depth, with the base at the endometrial cavity and apex towards the anterior wall of the isthmus. It may be located within the lower uterine segment or upper endocervical canal.
