Calcaneal lipoma with Cockade sign

Presentation

Left ankle trauma due to falling.

Patient Data

Age: 40
Gender: Male
X-ray

A well defined lytic lesion with narrow transitional zone is noted at the anteroinferior portion of the calcaneum which shows a small central sclerotic focus.

Case Discussion

This is a case of an intraosseous calcaneal lipoma with central calcification, an incidental finding in a 40 year-old patient with ankle trauma. This appearance resembles the badge generally worn upon a hat and is called the "Cockade sign".
