Calcaneal tuberosity avulsion fracture - ultrasound

Presentation

Ankle twist.

Patient Data

Age: about 60 - 65 yrs
Gender: Female
Modality: Ultrasound

Large avulsion fracture is noted from calcaneal tuberosity with out 25 mm of retraction.

Defect site shows echoes - blood.

Achilles tendon is noted attached to tuberosity. Tendon itself is normal in echopattern without changes of tendinosis.

Case Discussion

Plain radiograph ( not available, no copy right ) was diagnostic for calcaneal tuberosity avulsion fracture.

Ultrasound was requested to check achilles tendon pathology if any. Tendon was normal.
