CT shows a fracture of the posterior calcaneal tuberosity with avulsion of the Achilles tendon insertion, extraarticular and without involvement of the posterior subtalar joint.
Case Discussion
This case illustrates an extraarticular calcaneal fracture and a calcaneal tuberosity avulsion fracture. The extraarticular fractures account for 25% of calcaneal fractures and include all fractures that do not involve the posterior facet of the subtalar articulation.
