Presentation
Shoulder pain.
Patient Data

Shoulder X-rays show multiple globular, dense, and homogenous calcific deposits that are projected over the supraspinatus tendon.

Sagittal US image of the rotator cuff of the shoulder demonstrates intratendinous multiple oval hyperechoic foci representing calcific deposits of the supraspinatus tendon which appears thickened and hypoechoic.
Case Discussion
Findings are compatible with calcific tendinitis of the supraspinatus tendon.
Radiological classification of calcifying tendinitis (Gartner & Heyer):
Type 1: clearly circumscribed and dense, formative.
Type 2: clearly circumscribed, translucent, cloudy and dense.
Type 3: cloudy and translucent, resorptive.
