MR reveals an intra-tendinous focal constant T1 and T2 hypointensity lesion involving the distal aspect of the supraspinatus tendon consistent with calcific tendinopathy.
Mild capsular hypertrophy and degenerative changes are seen along with the acromioclavicular joint.
Acromion type II is seen.
Case Discussion
Calcific tendinitis of the rotator cuff is a self-limiting pathology affecting the rotator cuff muscles, most commonly the supraspinatus tendon.
