Info

MRI images revealed diffuse thickening and edema of the subscapularis tendon. Within the thickened tendon, there are areas of hypointense signals, with a maximum diameter of up to 12 mm, indicating the presence of calcifications.

There is also abnormal intrasubstance increased fluid signal along the articular side fibers of the supraspinatus tendon, which is related to tendinosis associated with subchondral edema and cystic changes in the humeral head, and greater tuberosity.

Mild capsular hypertrophy and degenerative changes are seen along with the acromioclavicular joint. Acromion type II also is seen.

Fluid signal is observed in the subacromial-subdeltoid bursae.

Case Discussion

These features are consistent with calcific tendonitis of subscapularis.
