Presentation

Pelvic pain, a history of intrauterine device (IUD) placed approximately 4 years ago.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

Transabdominal and transvaginal sagittal views show coarse, echogenic shadowing structures within the endometrial cavity adjacent to the properly positioned intrauterine device. 

Case Discussion

Intrauterine device (IUD) is widely used for the long duration of protection. Calcification may be seen adjacent to IUD in long-term use.
