Calcified cavernous internal carotid arteries in a young patient

Case contributed by Yaïr Glick
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Migrainous headache with blurry vision.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

The only pathology in this head scan is mild calcification of the cavernous ICAs..

Case Discussion

Incidentally noted bilateral cavernous ICA calcification which, albeit mild, is not something one expects to encounter in a 25-year-old.

The patient's history was only remarkable for mild migraines and smoking 4 cigarettes a day.
