Calcified pleural plaques - asbestos exposure

Small bilateral mid-zone calcified pleural plaques.
Additional plaques on the medial aspect of the mediastinum overlying the left ventricular outline and on the right hemidiaphragm.
The lungs are hyperinflated. Heart size normal.
Case Discussion
The diaphragm is a favorite place for the plaques to form. The plaques indicate exposure and in so the potential risk of mesothelioma, but the plaques themselves are not pre-malignant or prone to dysplasia.
