Calculous cholecystitis

Presentation

24 hours of epigastric pain.

Patient Data

Age: 30
Gender: Female
Modality: Ultrasound

The gallbladder contains multiple small calculi, there is asymmetric oedema of the gallbladder wall, and there is localised tenderness, all consistent with cholecystitis.

Bile duct is in the upper range of normal at 6 mm with no obvious stones within it.

The liver pancreas spleen and both kidneys appear normal.

Conclusion:

Gallstones and cholecystitis.

Case Discussion

The patient proceeded to cholecystectomy six weeks after the ultrasound and histopathology confirmed cholelithiasis and cholecystitis
