Case Discussion

For accurate preoperative planning for total hip arthroplasty with digital radiography, the orthopedic surgeon uses digital templating. Templating requires the use of a marker of known size on the image which is used to calibrate the size of the joint prosthesis components. Most commonly, a radiopaque sphere of known diameter is used as the marker.
