Carcinoma colon - hepatic flexure

Case contributed by Dr Paresh K Desai

Presentation

Anemia, abdominal pain

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

There is a non-obstructing mass lesion in the hepatic flexure of the colon with adjacent pericolic lymph nodes and a large lymph node is seen anterior to the superior mesenteric vein. No distinct cleavage plane is seen between the lymph node and the SMV.

Case Discussion

CT is an excellent modality for evaluating colonic masses and assess associated lymph node status and liver metastases. This patient had a colonoscopy which revealed a mass and the biopsy revealed colon adenocarcinoma.
