Presentation

Painless swelling of the left side of the neck.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
ct

There is a large well-defined vividly enhancing soft tissue mass of the left carotid space splaying the internal and external carotid arteries (lyre sign), isodense to the muscles.

Case Discussion

CT features are most consistent with a carotid body tumor (or carotid body paraganglioma).
