Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Left sided localized neck pain - Few days.

Patient Data

Age: 45 yrs
Gender: Male
ultrasound

 

LEFT distal common carotid artery shows hypoechoic wall thickening extending to proximal most part of internal carotid artery. Wall shows outward wall bulge without significant luminal narrowing.  Intima is normal.

Left common carotid , internal and exteral carotids show normal velosities and waveforms. 

5 wks FU. Patient is now...

5 wks FU. Patient is now asymptomatic.

Soft tissue thickening around left carotid artery has nearly completely regressed.

Case Discussion

Initial scan shows soft tissue thickening abutting left common carotid artery without luminal / flow compromise.  

5 wks follow up , shows near complete resolution of findings. 

No specific treatment was given except some analgesics...
