Agenesis of lower lumbar vertebrae and sacrum is noted resulting in opposition of both iliac blades causing pelvic deformity. Findings are due to caudal regression syndrome.
Caudal regression syndrome occurs due to midline closure defect from disturbance to caudal mesoderm in early pregnancy (<4th week of gestation). It is not associated with VATER syndrome.
