Urinary bladder dysfunction and delayed motor milestones

Patient Data

Age: 2 years old
Gender: Female
mri

Blunt termination of the cord at the L1-2 level with a wedge shape conus medullaris ending into a intra spinal lipoma. Partial agenesis of the sacral verebrae with vertebral segmentation anomalies are also noted.

Case Discussion

The child's mother was diabetic which increases the risk of sacral agenesis. Other risk factors include; familial predisposition and intrauterine infection/ischemia.

Caudal regression syndrome is associated with other anomalies e.g. VACTER
