There is a rounded well-defined intra-axial lesion of the right mesial temporal lobe adjacent to the cavernous sinus, protruding into the prepontine cistern. It displays a low signal on T1WI, FLAIR, and T2WI with a prominent blooming effect on gradient echo sequence. No surrounding edema or enhancement on the postcontrast sequence.
Case Discussion
MRI features of a cavernoma of the mesial temporal lobe. By its MRI appearance and its location adjacent to the right posterior communicating artery, it should not be mistaken for a cerebral aneurysm.
