Cavitating mesenteric lymph node syndrome in celiac disease

Gluten loving celiac patient.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

Fat-fluid density in multiple enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes.

Case Discussion

Patients with celiac disease that are not compliant with low-gluten diets have ongoing inflammation in their duodenum/jejunum and draining lymph nodes. Mesenteric inflamed lymph nodes collect chyle resulting in this appearance (proposed mechanism).
