Increased metabolic activity in the right hand and thenar muscles.
FDG was injected into the left antecubital vein and so the appearance is not related to the FDG injection.
Case Discussion
MRI of the hand confirmed no lesion in the hand.
So now, we try to limit cell phone use to avoid this finding after injection of FDG to avoid false positives and doing more unnecessary extra studies.
It is very hard for the patient to be in a quiet room by oneself and not talk, use cell phone etc. for an hour these days, following injection of radiotracer.
