Central neurocytoma with tumoral cyst

Case contributed by Dr Rebecca Dumont Walter

Progressive headaches.

Patient Data

Age: 45 year old
Gender: Male

Contrast-enhanced MRI Brain

Large heterogeneous mixed solid and cystic lesion with areas of nodular enhancement centered in the region of the posterior septum pellucidum with extension into the left lateral ventricle. Areas of susceptibility within the lesion may correspond to calcification and/or blood products.

Case Discussion

This is an example of a central neurocytoma, a WHO II neuroepithelial intraventricular tumor that was confirmed on resection. Typically on imaging, these appear "bubbly" due to the cystic components.
