Frontal

Avulsion fracture through the dorsal aspect of the fourth finger middle phalangeal base. No displacement. Normal joint alignment.
Case Discussion
The extensor digitorum tendon divides into a central slip and two lateral slips. The central slip inserts into the dorsal aspect of the middle phalangeal base and is less commonly injured. Avulsion injuries may be tendinous or bony, as in in this case.
