Presentation
Clinical picture of cerebellar dysfunction.
Patient Data

Left cerebellar infarcts in the PICA and SCA territories, appearing subacute.
Left vertebral artery occluded at its origin (not shown).

The reporting radiologist had the impression of a rooster in the left PICA infarct and another one in the left SCA infarct.
Case Discussion
Pareidolia, the recognition of familiar forms in natural phenomena (e.g. cloud formations, tea leaves) or while interpreting radiological exams, is a well-known phenomenon - see the Rorschach radiology article for many more examples.
The word "pareidolia" derives from the concatenation of the Greek words παρά ("beside") + εἴδωλον ("form, shape").
