Large thin walled rim enhancing lesion centered on the left basal ganglia with mild surrounding edema.
This is effacing the frontal horn of the left lateral ventricle and diencephalon.
Mild temporal horn dilatation.
Case Discussion
This patients clinical findings along with CT brain were in keeping with a cerebral abscess.
He underwent image guided surgery - 50mls of frank pus was aspirated and the abscess cavity dissected.
Culture and sensitivity was positive for Klebsiella pneumoniae.
