Recent posterior fossa surgery for resection of a hemangioblastoma. Now increasing headaches.

Cerebral abscess after posterior fossa craniectomy

Posterior fossa craniectomy. A peripherally enhancing lesion is present in the surgical bed with surrounding edema.
Case Discussion
Although rare, cerebral / cerebellar abscess formation is encountered following craniotomies and enhancement cannot be dismissed as post surgical change.
This patient underwent a repeat craniotomy and drainage of the collection. He made a complete recovery.
