This illustration depicts the numerous hemorrhagic and non-hemorrhagic manifestations of cerebral amyloid angiopathy:

  • hemorrhagic manifestations (left side of illustration)

    • lobar intracerebral hemorrhage (lobar ICH), in red

      • accompanied by satellite acute cerebral microbleeds and associated convexity (convexal) subarachnoid hemorrhage, in red, and occurring in a region of cortical superficial siderosis, in black

    • lobar cerebral microbleeds (lobar CMBs), in black

    • cortical superficial siderosis (cSS), in black

    • convexity (convexal) subarachnoid hemorrhage (cSAH), in red, occurring independently of any intracerebral hemorrhage

  • non-hemorrhagic manifestations (right side of illustration)

    • enlarged perivascular spaces (EPVS) of the centrum semiovale, in white

    • white matter hyperintense spots (WMH spots), in dark brown

    • white matter hyperintensities (WMH), in light brown

    • cortical microinfarcts, in purple
