Cerebral arteriovenous malformation

Large nidus of malformed vessels, as evidenced by serpiginous (bag of worm) appearance and signal (flow) void in T2 weighted images, is seen involving the right parieto-occipital region. Although large, no mass effect is detected.
Arterial supply derived from right posterior and middle cerebral arteries.
Venous drainage to the cortical veins and right internal cerebral vein.
No hemorrhage is detected.
Case Discussion
Features on MRI are consistent with cerebral arteriovenous malformation, also known as classic brain AVM, which is a common form of cerebral vascular malformation and is composed of a nidus of vessels through which arteriovenous shunting occurs.
