Cerebral cavernoma and development venous anomaly

Presentation

Asymptomatic patient referred for a MRI evaluation after an incidental finding on brain CT (performed in a context of trauma).

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

There is a left frontal nodular lesion showing a prominent blooming artifact on susceptibility imaging (SWI), having a characteristic "popcorn" appearance, and associated with a developmental venous anomaly (DVA). Remaining brain is unremarkable and MRA does not show any relevant feature. 

Case Discussion

This case illustrates a typical mixed vascular malformation, which represents the common association between cerebral cavernous venous malformation (cavernoma) and developmental venous anomaly (DVA)
