Presentation
2 week history of right-sided pleuritic chest pain, hemoptysis and shortness of breath at rest
Patient Data
Multiple well rounded, hyperdense mixed cystic-solid lesions on low dose CT.
Case Discussion
Initially, the concern was regarding a pulmonary embolism with a Wells score of 4 and D-dimer positive. During a CTPA, no PE was identified but an avid tissue density measuring 2.5 x 6 x 8 cm abutting the pleura in the right upper lobe was discovered.
The patient then proceeded with an FDG-PET study where a single photopenic lesion was seen in the posterior left frontal lobe. Utilizing the low dose CT scan, the multiple brain lesions were then identified.
