There is a redemonstrated acute/subacute venous infarct centered in the right basal
ganglia. There are tiny areas of hemorrhage within this which are stable and there is stable mass effect and midline shift.

This abnormal MR venography of the brain suggests thrombosis of the right internal cerebral vein and thalamostriate branches which are not visualized as compared to the contralateral patent left internal cerebral vein and patent thalamostriate branches.
There is a component of chronic dural venous sinus thrombosis with non-visualization
of the straight sinus and inferior sagittal sinus as well as diminutive appearance of the left sigmoid sinus and transverse sinus.

This case demonstrates abnormal MR venography of the brain suggesting thrombosis of the right
internal cerebral vein and thalamostriate branches.
