Cerebral venous thrombosis with cerebral venous infarction

Sudden onset of severe headaches, with altered consciousness.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

The MRI sequences demonstrate:

  • thrombosis of the left lateral/sigmoid sinuses as well as the ipsilateral internal jugular vein, which show a high signal on T1/FLAIR and intermediate signal T2 with loss of their signal void on MRV 2D-TOF.
  • area of venous hemorrhagic infarct in the left temporal region with blooming on the GE sequence.
