The MRI sequences demonstrate:
- area of venous hemorrhagic infarct in the right temporo-occipital region of high signal on T1 and T2 with blooming on the GE sequence, and surrounding edema.
- thrombosis of the right lateral and sigmoid sinuses, the ipsilateral internal jugular vein as well as a small adjacent cortical vein, which appear high signal on T1, T2, and FLAIR with loss of their signal void on MRV 2D-TOF.
Case Discussion
MRI features of a cerebral venous thrombosis with cerebral venous infarction.
