Examination in supine position of the left carotid system with the linear probe revealed the common carotid artery occupied by echogenic material from the origin up to the bifurcation, extending to the internal carotid and probably external carotid arteries. No flow detected on color Doppler.
Case Discussion
These findings in the scenario of history suggest thrombosis of the left carotid system. The internal jugular vein is completely compressible.
