Presentation
D1 postoperative of C3/C4 disc replacement.
Patient Data
Metallic disc prosthesis within the C3/4 intervertebral disc space showing normal alignment with the adjacent vertebral endplates. Small marginal osteophytes projecting in the basis of the left C3/4 intervertebral foramina do not cause significant stenosis.
Small posterior central disc protrusions are demonstrated mildly indenting the dural sac anteriorly at the levels of C2/3, C4/5, and C5/6. The reminder spinal canal and intervertebral foramina are capacious.
Minimal foci of surgical emphysema.
Conclusion: Postoperative CT scan demonstrating normal position of the C3/C4 intervertebral disc prosthesis.
Case Discussion
This is an illustrative case of a well-positioned cervical disc prosthesis (total disc replacement). The model utilized was a Mobi-C cervical disc.
This kind of surgery is an alternative treatment to cervical fusion, which aims to maintain a normal range of spine motion and consequently decreasing the adjacent segment degeneration.
