Trauma Radiology Course Edinburgh June 11 | Melbourne July 9 | Video On-Demand August 1
C6-7 fracture dislocation including left locked facet dislocation and right facet fracture allowing substantial anterolisthesis of C6 relative to C7 and resultant canal narrowing. Anterosuperior corner fracture of the C7 vertebral body.
In addition to the CT findings, the MRI shows complete rupture of the ligamentum flavum at C6-7 with related short segment posterior epidural hematoma, and disrupted ALL at C7 with prevertebral hematoma. There is canal narrowing with effacement of CSF around the cord and cord edema, but no cord hemorrhage or transection.
Case Discussion
Unstable C6-7 fracture dislocation including a locked facet joint, ALL injury, ligamentum flavum tear, posterior epidural hematoma and cord compression.
