Four triangular ossifications in the anterior aspect of the C3-4, C4-5, C5-6 and C6-7 intervertebral discs are indicative of intercalary bones.
Vertebral body heights and alignment, disc spaces and posterior elements are within normal limits.
Case Discussion
Intercalary bones are discal ossifications commonly of triangular morphology involving the anterior annular fibers of the disc.
They are thought to be metaplastic in origin and represents a normal variant of no clinical significance, or is found in association with degenerative disc disease of the corresponding disc segment.
